Celebrating the Living Culture takes place at the historic Saint Fethlimith’s Cathedral,Kilmore, Cavan on Saturday 18th May 2013 @ 7pm. This event is a celebration of musical talent showcasing music from our shared traditions. This Concert is part of Culture Cavan project an initiative funded by International Fund for Ireland in conjunction with Cavan County Council. This evening will include the debut performance of the new County Choir under the direction of Blánaid Murphy. The Choir are excited at the prospect of their first public performance in the historic and tranquil surrounds of Kilmore.
Martin Donohoe, will be MC on the evening. He has worked tirelessly with many musicians, singers and dancers to bring together an eclectic mix of musical talent from our varied traditions. Guest performers include Mullaghboy Accordion & Drum Band, Cavan Town Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Wendy Swan historian on Kilmore, Bert Cootepoetry recital, Lorraine Spotton singer, Cavan Set & Sean nos dancers, Lorraine Vance singer, Martin Murphy All Ireland Champion Ceile Band Drummer, Merilyn Morton keyboards, Seamus Fay Cavan Lilter, Eamonn Maguire Storyteller, Fintan McManus on whistle & bouzouki.
