Congratulations to all our branch competitors who took part in Fleadh Cheoil 2013. Following the hosting of three successful Fleadh the number or competitors within the county has increased significantly. This is fantastic for the promotion of Irish music and indeed raises the standard of competitions. Therefore we celebrate the success of having so many compete in Ulster and in the All-Ireland and are delighted to extend hearty congratulations to those who were successful in Derry.
Within the flute and tin whistle section Seamus Tierney excelled taking home three All Ireland medals, two first places in flute and tin whistle in the 15-18 year old category and third place in the flute Slow Airs 15-18 category. A marvellous achievement and testament to his hard work.
Within the under 12 category Orla Sheridan took first place in the Harp. We say well done to working her well deserved win and have no doubt we will see her take part successfully in many more completions In the future
The Webber School of Dancing also competed successfully taking third place in Ladies 4 and 8 Hand Céilí 12-15 category. Congratulations to Margaret Webber their teacher and her entire team of hardworking dancers, Ellen Grant, Tara Truyen, Ciara Lee, Emily Smith, Aishling Sexton, Rachel Smith, Enya O’Brien, Clodagh Kelly and Cara Smith who is missing from our picture below.
